Background Concepts/Studies

Background Concepts/Studies
I thought about maybe making "hell" a beach (combining my first initial idea for the background with my new one). So I studied some beach photos and some hell pictures, I quickly realized that most "hell" drawings were cave-like, so I decided to study caves instead.
I like the last glowy one, I think it matches with the style of the game, as I want the underworld not to be so "dark" but kinda fun too. I think the glowy bugs add a sense of wonder to the dark cave.

I animated in 3D!

Ferris Wheel
Regan showed me how to make the Ferris Wheel in 3D, it was super good practice. I found it really hard at the start, but I understand Maya a bit better now. (just a little).
Animating it was the best part!

Ferris Wheel

I have decided to do a Ferris Wheel for my background animation. I'm going to try and 3D animate it!
I did some concepts, trying out different carts, shapes on the Ferris wheel and colors. I'm liking the neon green and dark blue.

Game Background and Final Game Idea

Game Idea
Ray (protagonist) is a fallen angel on earth. Her boyfriend does not know this. Suddenly, just when the boyfriend and Ray were about to kiss, the master of the underworld (dead) kidnaps Ray's boyfriend, Ray was just about to save him with her magical phone (which is actually a device from heaven to keep her on check) but the battery is empty. The master of the underworld kidnaps the boyfriend and Ray has to rescue him by traveling through the underworld. She has to collect battery bars (for her phone) while defeating the dead (skeletons).
Once she reaches the master of the underworld, it is revealed that he is actually her ex and was jealous of her new boyfriend. Ray tells him off and also reveals to her boyfriend that she is a fallen angel. The master apologizes and lets the boyfriend go.

Background Ideas/Moodboard
I was looking at games that take place in hell/underworld. Devil May Cry 5's background at the start of the game inspired me to make the underworld carnival-like. Having bright colors to match with the more upbeat and fun gameplay. I was thinking about having subtle things in the background (Ferris wheel that looks similar to the one in Pripyat) that have to do with the Chernobyl disaster.
While I was researching carnival images, I found thought about perhaps having the backgrounds inspired by the "Day of the Dead". (colorful backgrounds)
I also thought about having skeletons of animals from a circus (which would match with the whole carnival backgrounds)

Background animated Assets Ideas
I was thinking about animating a Ferris wheel, but I'm not sure if it will be doable with the time that we have.
I was also thinking about animating bats in the background (either real ones or skeleton ones).
Or animated a carousel but I think that would be way too hard...
